Beautiful.

I have tried to photocraph my Sinaloan, but she doesn't like to stay long in a one place. How did you get it to pose? Or did you let it wander around, and took a pic when it was in a nice position?

Did you edit the photograph after taking it? Since the colours look so good.

Thanks for your kind words. This one does not sit still either. Try putting the snake under a tight hide, when you lift it, you have a second or two before they start moving again. Unfortunately they don't pose and you get whatever they give you. I'm almost certain I turned up the contrast a few points in PS. Have you seen my corn snake feeding pics? They sit pretty still except for the swallowing action during feeding. Not sure if you want a feeding pic though... Good luck with the capture.

I'm more used to photographing wild animals in nature, but I guess there isn't any shortcuts with photographing captive snakes either.

My milksnake is a shy feeder. She just snatches the food quickly and drags it in her hiding spot where she swallows it. The best shots I have of her I've gotten when she has been in her terrarium and I've caught her doing something funny and managed to get the camera on time...

You're right, I've shot wild local snakes and the same problems arise. I've given up on many sessions when they just would not remain still.

Glad you like, thanks!
My particular Sinaloan is shy and would rather be left alone, I'm sure additional handling could change that. Not much of a hunter either, out of my collection she's the clumsiest. Besides the beautiful red, blk, & wht bands, probably not too much different than your beautiful Royal Python. May I suggest that you look into a Carpet Python for your next snake, I think their semi arboreal nature makes them more interesting to watch.

another gorgeous picture, the snake is in a fantastic pose...
you have really brought out the snake's colour by using the white background
