Michelangelo sat on the sofa, his teddy bear clutched tightly to his small body, and his eyes were wide and focused on the television in front of him. Sunday, May 13th, it was all about something called Mother's' Day. He'd heard of it before, and it had never really bothered him all that much. He hadn't even ever really realized it… but they'd never celebrated Mother's Day before.

He slid off the couch, the tv still playing the commercial about Mother's Day jewellery, and ran off towards Master Splinter's room. Before his little fist could even connect with the door, it slid open.

"My son, is there something troubling you?" Splinter smiled down at the little tot, seeing the wonder in the bright blue eyes.

"Why don't we have a mother?"

Splinter reached out and touched his son's shoulder, lightly squeezing it. "What brings this up, my son?"

Michelangelo gave a pout, his eyes growing sad. "Mother's Day is tomorrow, and we don't have anyone to celebrate it with."

"You have your brothers and I, Michelangelo." His hand tightened slightly on Mikey's shoulder in an assuring hold.

Mikey shook his head, his eyes watering. "No! You're not our mother, it can't be mother's day without a mom!"

"Michelangelo. Your mother isn't like us, but you DO have a mother." Splinter explained.

At the words, Mikey's eyes lit up. "Then we can celebrate Mother's day?"

Splinter chuckled, and gave a nod in agreement. "Yes, we can celebrate Mother's day. If it were not for her, I would not have my four wonderful sons."

Michelangelo's tears dried right up, and he wiped at his eyes, his face lighting up in a huge grin. "I've got to go and tell the guys!" He turned tail and ran straight for his brothers' rooms, leaving Splinter laughing in the door way.
