I really like the colours here. The teal background and the red/orange fur of the fox creates such a nice contrast.

Stunning, just stunning. I love all your paintings, and love cats, but this one... My goodness, so real. Those colours. Yes, no words. Β Β Β

Wow! What a BEAUTIFUL red fox!
The coloring is very nice. You did a great job capturing that "misty day" piece of work.Β

the fluff is real here, omg
this is gorgeous and the blues in the background are a great contrast to the red of the fox, not to mention how pretty the light glow around its head is
seriously you are so good D:

Love how the fox's head is in focus compared to the tail and the background, the sense of depth in this picture is fantastic! I love the way you do fur as well, he looks so fluffy, and again the sense of depth and how it appears to be sticking up and clumping in places looks great. It looks like it juuuuust started raining, which is an oddly specific moment to capture! Great work!

What program do you use for artwork like this? I recently got my hands on a copy of the latest Clip Studio Paint, but everything else I do was down on Gimp and SAI?Β
In any case, I've never been able to achieve this kind of detail using either three with them. What's you're method? As a fellow artist I'd love to know how you did this.

I use SAI and first I slap on the base color with different hues and values and then slowly build on top going from big to small. Don't get caught in the detail, everything you see here is the small parts I added last. Try playing around with your brush settings to find a brush that kinda blends as you paint (this is why I used one layer, not sure which setting that is exactly rn). I saw your fur test, you can smudge with the "blend" brush on SAI at the base of the clumps to make it look more realistic :]

I had a feeling this was done a SAI but i wasn't sure.Β
In the testrun image i made, I was basing it off a tutorial someone posted here. I spoke to him about and he illustrated his methods on it. The rendering i made take it a little further, but the methods were the same.
So far I'm only use to using the Brush tool, but in all honesty I haven't worked with the prgram that long, only several weeks. The program I used the longest is GIMP, it was the program I first used ever. Trying to find out all of SAI's tools and features has been a real struggle, and since I suffer from a mild form of Autism the struggle is much worse.Β

I like how the mist creates a focal point around the fox's head. It blurs the surrounding grass and its tail to get the effect right?

Chiakiro In reply to NapkinDictator [2018-04-01 16:45:56 +0000 UTC]
Was that a question about how it creates a focal point? XD It leaves the head to have more contrast and I also made that area lighter which both are ways to make it pop. But basically yes
