Description I love doing things on impulse. Good things happen,
& little things make me happy.
I just learned about a small butterfly pavilion & w/only 1 day left decided to go.
Located in Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden Claremont

I wouldn't normally post a B&W butterfly image, for me they deserve to show their colors, but this one was different. The little butterfly was white, a cabbage white & so was the flower.
I think it works.
Hope you enjoy it, please let me know what you think.

thanks so much, this was a very small exhibit w/only butterflies native to ca, & it was the last day so they took all the butterflies & released them into the garden. Lucky butterflies

Thanks very much, glad you like it....I really did hesitate putting up a B&W butterfly, but I found that some did enjoy it

It works Chibi...B&W is the true color of photography

thanks much, I appreciate your thoughts & I trust if it didn't work you'd be honest.
Educate me, why is B&W the true color of photography when we live in a world of color?
Because it strips the content down to basics & color can be distracting to the true feeling of the image?

Because when photography was invented there was only B&W film...and so...

Thanks Marina, I just never see butterflies in B&W, but I'm glad I tried. What is it you like about B&W?

I don't know... I'd say b/w gives a "timeless" look to the photos.

...definitely more difficult for me, but I love when it works

As i saw it i thought exactly the same(that I dont like b/w for colorful nature-but this one is really soft and delicate).great work

I really appreciate your comment, thanks much. I seldom even view B&W butterflies, but I thought I'd try for just this one.
They are one of nature's finest, so bring on the color
