chibineko55 — A Not-So-Secret Secret

Description I originally wanted to post this at FandomSecrets (at LiveJournal), but, immediately after creating the would-be secret, I realized I had no idea –how – to post at FS. So I decided to post this at a more familiar website: DeviantArt.

The fact that I wanted to post this at a place where everything (except comments) is anonymous tells you something about this post: it is both embarrassing and somewhat personal. But as soon as I had saved this ‘secret,’ I discovered I wasn’t all too hesitant about posting it where anyone who wanted to could see and comment on it; this confidence usually stays firmly rooted in real life (as in, I have no problem telling people face-to-face that I love Harry Potter, though I –am– hesitant about telling them I listen to wrock), but it has now apparently crossed over into my small life online.

This is probably due to the fact that I have discovered Hank and John Green (AKA, the vlogbrothers on YouTube) and am seriously considering signing up at nerdfighter.com.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS MY PERONSAL OPINION! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE FOR WRITING WHAT I BELIEVE!

Anyway, on to the ‘secret.’ I do, indeed, refuse to accept the last two HP books; yes, I know the wizarding world is as war, but did Rowling really have to kill of all the awesome characters (Lupin, Fred, and Snape)? And I’ve never really gotten over Sirius’ death, though I always preferred Lupin to Padfoot. I, like many fans, plan on doing my own version of the last 2 books sometime in the far-away future, when I have time.

Yes, I do realize that my secret makes me sound like a typical Snape fangirl. I’m actually more interested in the many facets of his character, his motivations, his speech pattern, things like that (not just 'OMG HAWT!'. I have spent a lot of time and effort researching Snape (like I do with all my obsessions) and now have a 34 page document entirely devoted to one Severus Snape.

Anyway, enough of my rantings. Please comment (but no leaving nasty comments just because I expressed my opinion - you may not agree with it, but please respect it)!

Where do you find these filks? I've never heard of any of these ones.

I liked the character dvelopment in the last two books - especially the development of Albus - and dramatically I do understand why she killed Snape. But I wish she hadn't.

If you want obsessive you should have a look at my fanfic page at [link] There you will find an essay called "But Snape is just nasty, right?" which examines the evidence for Snape being unpleasant (and refutes most of it) with rambles into examining things like the Shrieking Shack incident in PoA from Snape's point of view. It *started* at about 34 pages, but has now grown to something the size of a book.

Thank you for 1) commenting, and 2) leading me to a site that I am thoroughly enjoying! I know I sound like a huge HP-geek, but the site is fascinating. Thank you!

Hi. I'm only just now getting to grips with dA's very user-hostile messaging system, which I haven't had time to do before - sorry for the delay in replying.

Anyway, I'm glad you're having fun with the website. New bits get added periodically. If you're really obsessive you can get at the map of Hogwarts project - I haven't linked it in to the web page yet because it's not quite finished, but you can see most of it starting from www.whitehound.co.uk/Fanfic/map_of_Hogwarts.htm.

With you all the way on this one.

I like "Bravest Man I Ever Knew" too. I can get through it now, but the first time I heard it I was in tears.

I can handle 'Bravest Man,' though I must admit I did cry the first time I heard it. Anyway, thank you for commenting!

Surprisingly enough, I agree with most of what you said and your honesty is cool.
