Description Here's my drawing of lips. Of course I made a mistake there but I thought I'd leave it there for you to work out which one looks OK. I just like to hear out your opinion.

More tips on this tutorial as well. I didn't realise cartoon/comic women and men lips are entirely different in these drawings but in real life, women and men lips are almost identical!!!!! Watch their lips!

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed haha! So, are you taking art classes or are you just posting those up there to help people?

I've taken the art classes when I was in school but now I'm forcing myself to practice more. And I thought I'd post them up because I've been looking for some other tutorials to help me drawing similar to my drawings but there were none and that gave me frustrating. It gave me an idea to put more specific tutorials where people can find more helpful they are looking for.

So, I'm still learning.

That's what I'm doing... I'm forcing myself to draw again. It's been so LONG! That's what I was dooing... looking up tutorials because I am a little rusty. I like your stuff though.

Then you're welcome to use the tutorials when you are in need of help!

There's so much tutorials everywhere, such as, sites and books but the problem is that it's hard to pick a few better tutorials that get you to understand. I learnt a basic tutorial called, "Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy" by Christopher Hart. It's very helpful but then you have to find the images of your own to improve the skills from the book to mind. Very challenging.

Yeah it's so hard for me to actually learn art from a book. I have a couple of those books, but I like collectively learning from "real" people if you will... That's why I like this site so much. I beleive that there's never one "right" way to draw. Art is art whether you have a degree, write a book, or are on deviantart.

I know what you are talking about with finding your own images to improve your skills. That's why I am an imagination person. I like to draw whatever comes to my head. Ask me to draw something specific and it boggles me. It may take hours and many erase marks later I might have something similar to what you have asked me to draw.

You're correct. The DeviantArt is wonderful place to explore many things and perhaps get an idea that inspire you from many artists.

Yesterday, my teacher encouraged the students include me not to erase too much until we form our shapes first. I found it a bit helpful when I got the shape correct and adding a few more details before I erase some unnecessary parts off. I'm pretty good at charcoal but I'm struggling with pencils.

What kind of medium do you use?

Um... mostly pencils then I ink with an art pen. I erase like CRAZY! I am so insecure sometimes about my work. I see all of the little imperfections and it bugs me. I can never have just a penciled art work... I have to cover all the erase marks up with marker or something.

I tried charcoal once... even color pastels and it wasn't me. I feel I have more control ith a pencil. It's more "safe" for me.

I really wanted to try an art pen but I don't know what art pen I should use. A small art pen or a thick art pen over top of the pencil lines? Even I'm dying to try the markers but they are so.... expensive!

I got my art pens from either Michaels or Wal-Mart and they weren't too terribly bad... maybe 10 bucks at most and they come in 5 different tip sizes.

You use different tip sizes for different parts on your drawing like use the smallest one for detailed work like the eyes and big tip sizes for coloring in shaded areas or thicker lines in your drawing.

Mine got ruined though because my husband used them on marking wood when we remodeled our house and he left them outside! I'm going to get more though.

Lucky you, I could've brought the art pens in US but in Australia, one per an art marker is $6.95 and maybe I should buy one art marker per a time until I get enough of them.

I think the art markers are sensitive to light if it ever gets dried. I'll take a look at your work on how you use the art markers.

Lol, your husband must've thought the markers were for marking the stuff. Haha.

Yeah I guess he did. I was so pissed lol.

The last complete art I did was with a Sharpie... lol. I still have yet to get art pens.
