She is the first I've done. She kind of stemmed from a conversation I had with a friend. She is a pretty sweet gal.

Yeah. I haven't drawn one. Flyspurs nephew Jylee is going to end up with her, much to the horror of everyone.
Me too!

Thanks! Reb and I were just talking about how mad it would make his parents if Jylee ended up being interested in a Third. And then....I just had to draw her.

Interesting set of ideas that popped into my head.
Jylee's affinity for making friends with Thirds is mostly tolerated at first, in the sense that people assume he's having trouble dealing with the loss of his uncle. Eventually there's a mild uproar but this is quelled by Jylee making the point that he's keeping Thirds like this little lady out of trouble.
As a young adult, Nooyan manages to luck out and gain employment at a printing facility. She ends up secretly using this job to publish "scandalous" fairy tale based stories under a pen name. They start off as mostly based on cultural stories tweaked to build up Thirds and call out those who treat them poorly but eventually evolve to include inspiration from other races/species/cultures/etc., including some human/Earth fairy tales Rover managed to stumble into and Flyspur managed to make copies of and send to Jylee. Things like a "Beauty and the Beast"-like story where a Third manages to restore the beast to their normal form and is rewarded while the family that sent them into danger faces consequences or a "Cinderella" story where the stepmother has two kids and had a third but lost them "in a tragic accident" and treats the Cinderella analogue like a Third because they're younger than her own children. She and Jylee end up leaving planet when the truth gets out.

Ooh! That is quite interesting! It would be fun to see some human fairy tales through a Jssfloon lense. That's kind of what Loorin and the Sprill was.

So female thirds are rarer than males? I didn't know that.

Someone just commented on our previous discussion and suggested that one of her parents was very supportive and the other was a stickler for the popular etiquette.

I don't know. I suppose there could be a time when that mutation didn't take effect. Genetics can be unpredictable.
I know, right. Niw I wonder if anyone else has read our insane ramblings....

Probably. I could see Jylee coming home with a bunch of kids, something like four or so, and his third wife like, "look at this."

Considering the way Jssfloon kids gestate, I could imagine growing one outside the womb would be easier than say, doing that with a human baby.
And now I keep imagining if Jylee and his wife were the ones to find some Earth human who had gotten marrooned on a planet.

Yeah. It would actually be fairly easy. And funnily enough, with that method they could have as many kids as they wanted.
Oooh. Fun stuff!

I could see some saying that was unnatural and shouldn't be done.
Good question. I guess it'd depend a bit on how well the chips that the crew may or may not have work, and if the person had been captured or not.

Oh, there would CERTAINLY be that group. No doubt. That is actually why it hadn't been delved into much. But seeing the results so plainly might do something to change some minds.
His or her chip could have been broken by a fall or an electrical jolt.

Especially for thirds who see that.
True. A stun might do that, or maybe being locked in a prison that's meant to stop electronic signals.

Very true. A stun bolt would work

I'd guess the maximum number ever, outside twins, would be something like five since a mother can have two more if the Third dies, and if she had another Third, that would make five.
Though, if it was a jail that stopped the chip from working, imagine the crew's horror when weeks or months after leaving someone for dead, they realize that person is alive and they'd been left behind.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-04-02 20:23:39 +0000 UTC]

Furious at him leaving and actually quite jealous. But the prestige of being grandma of the little darlings would be pretty big. If Jylee didn't make certain things public.
Especially if she had been captured.

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-04-02 20:59:47 +0000 UTC]
I have a feeling certain things would get made public...
Probably. It's possible that if the crew had just shot at someone and missed without managing to capture anyone, she'd be let loose somewhat quickly since she'd only be in trouble for associating with criminals.
