Description Anyone remember this guy?

It's been so long, I thought he might need a revamp. So I gave him a little makeover.

I don't think robots smoke usually. Perhaps it's got oil in it, or some kind of energy rod. Either way, it was nice to relax with some pencils once in a while!

Done on 200g/m² 14.8x21cm Accademia drawing paper with pencil. 2 hours.

PS: Never going to spray hair spray on anything ever again. It almost destroyed the drawing beyond repair! <<

Been a while since I wrote a critique, so bear that in mind, first of all. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="93" title="XD"/>

I very much enjoy your eye for detail, and this traditional art is a good example of that. There's far more to the picture than just the subject (your redesigned mechanical character): he is accompanied in your art by an entire cityscape.

I like the changes you applied to him as well. The more spiked head is certainly less conventional for the common perception of a machine. Nice touch with what could be considered smoking as well. My only real gripe is merely my own preference for colored art, but that does not take away from this image at all.

Great job!

My goodness, thank you for the critique! I do appreciate them whenever you find time to give me one.

I'm glad that the background is interesting/worth looking at! I've been dabbling more and more in improving my sense of backgrounds as a well-rounded artist should aspire. backgrounds are very important to make a character seem in place, in my opinion.

Hahaha, I love colored art as well! The problem is, as always, time. As much as I love painting, it takes up such a considerable amount of my time, I need to prioritize and reduce my usual intake of art to a minimum.

Thanks again for the critique! I really appreciate it.

You're welcome!

Fully agree: backgrounds are just as important as the subject matter.

Understandable; I myself have been finding it difficult to do everything I need to do and want to do, particularly this semester because of some lacking grades.
