Becaaause, dear, HGSS were the remakes of GSC, and I would repeat, Crystal was the first female platyer character so people were excited to see her again, HGSS, being a remake, is the same story, so, if we had gold/hibiki and Silver again, why not crystal? why make up a new character?
BW and BW2 on the other hand are not remakes but special sequels, the story is different, THE PLOT is different, EVERYTHING is different from BW to BW2, after all, 2 years passed between one game and another, and we get to see some hints about Touya/Touko and N, so Mei and Kyohei are NOT replacing Touya and Touko, they're new characters for a new story, so your argument is pretty much invalid...
