Description the austrian version of christmas...

we dont have a santa, what we've got is a "christkind".
i can remember my childhood: "christkind", it's a cute lil child, which flies around and bring all the presents to the children. if you are lucky, and fast enough you can see the "christkind" fly away.

christkind is also called jesus (jesus -"christ", child-kind)
-my lil child is tired and needs a break from the long journey-

EDIT: how we celebrate...
normally you lock the livingroom door the hole christmas day, because the christkind is a shy lil kid, so it can bring the presents. the whole family has a christmasdinner (we celebrate at night) and when the christkind finished its work, it rings a bell and opens the door, and the children in the house run as fast as they can to the livingroom, you know maybe they see the christkind. when you enter the livingroom (or wherever you celebrate) the christmastree has lightning candles and stuff like that, and its really bright, because the livingroom is dark. after the lightning finished you wish everybody a merry christmas "frohe weihnachten" and all the kids are allowed to search for their presents and open it.
sometimes you put some glitter on the floor of the livingroom and tell the kids, these are some footsteps of the christkind, of some feathers of the wings.
oh yeah, and the day before christmas you write a letter with your wishes and put them to the window.
