Description Hey guys...

So I was spending to much time on 9gag lately and just laugh prety hard with the posts about U.S. congress saying that pizza was a vegetable because of the tomate sauce.

I tried to find real news about it but I only found a british article and something saying that the congress was talking about the tomate sauce been equivalent to a portion of vegetables and not pizza...

England is eating cucumber, France chicory and Denmark a carrot (obviously u.u)

Again my humor sucks and the awesome SATW belongs to and bla bla bla

Oh yeah.. The pizza and vegetable thing... Its not the PIZZA thats the vegetable, not even a TOMATO is a vegetable. So Pizza CANT be a VEGETABLE because of the TOMATO SAUCE if the TOMATO isnt a VEGETABLE.
Duuuumb...

To all the ignorant people out there saying the US congress is stupid: Obviously they wouldn't call pizza a vegetable if there wasn't an alternative motive here. Personally I believe it has to do with school lunches. Maybe schools are required to have servings of vegetables but the congress decided it was cheaper to just sell pizza at school so they made pizza officially a vegetable. Don't take what I say as fact though, I'm not well educated on this matter either and this is only a hunch.

Choko-s In reply to thefunnykiller [2011-12-03 11:01:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes... the british article said something like that, and some congressmen wanted to reduce the levels of sodium and de amount of potato consumed by the kid.
I don't care if they say US is in a middle of a crises, some brasilian public schools have better lunch for their kids than that served on U.S.

Oh.. and are you defending this kind of decision? (the congress decided it was cheaper to just sell pizza at school so they made pizza officially a vegetable)I would be pissed!!

thefunnykiller In reply to Choko-s [2011-12-03 17:30:29 +0000 UTC]

I'm not defending congress, I would like to stay neutral on this subject until I know for sure why congress made pizza a vegetable. I can see why they'd do it because it sucks that vegetables are more expensive than processed food (not that money's a good reason or anything). Also, my previous comment wasn't directed towards you, I don't think you're ignorant. I think you handle this subject pretty well and with a lot of humor this comic was really funny

just a question (really, I'm curious, I mean no offense here) - if you're not well educated on this by your own admission, do you really need to call people ignorant?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

thefunnykiller In reply to Free-flowing-chaos [2011-12-03 17:23:28 +0000 UTC]

(it's okay) I find them to be ignorant because they are giving their opinion about something they don't truly understand. I'm trying to enlighten people that there is an alternative motive here, and then giving my theory of what that alternative motive is. While I may be ignorant to this specific subject, I at least know enough about the US government to know it's not "stupid" and there's a reason behind them making pizza a vegetable.

Free-flowing-chaos In reply to thefunnykiller [2011-12-04 07:23:17 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure I agree that it's a smart thing to do, but then again, I prefer vegetables over something that may or may not have some strange additive in it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

thefunnykiller In reply to Free-flowing-chaos [2011-12-04 17:45:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm fine with you thinking it's stupid, as long as you think it's stupid for a reason other than the US Congress legitimately thinking pizza is a vegetable

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Free-flowing-chaos In reply to thefunnykiller [2011-12-04 20:33:29 +0000 UTC]

I think the US Congress needs to go back to grade school if they legitimately think the whole of a pizza is a vegetable. It's a collection of many things: grains, fruits, dairy, and that's excluding toppings aside from the cheese. Tomatoes are not a vegetable, and never will be.

I"m an American and I'm shaking my head over the whole pizza thing. Of course hearing that they're discussing it as a serving is a different matter... granted the amount of sugar they add to it at restaurants should make it more a dessert.
OO Although they might be referring to my type of pizza - flat bread, homemade tomato sauce, artichoke hearts, 2 types of olives, onions, mushrooms, mozo cheese, green peppers and pepperoni. ^.^ Pizza and salad in one! <<

Ha! Rucula translates to rocket, huh? Gotta love online translators. In the states it translates to Arugula. I personally like arugula on some crusty Italian bread with roast beef, green apple slices, Brie cheese and a horse radish mayo.

It must be great... I love arugula with dried tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella (again I'm using google xD)

Yea... arugula sounds like someone saying rucula with marbles in their mouth. lol
Oo
We do have buffalo mozzarella made with actual bison milk so that's totally plausible. And that sounds really good too.
