my pleasure..yes they sure do look beautiful. we have beautiful beaches here on the west coast of Australia and night time is the best time to enjoy..I just love the sounds of the waves and the little blue dune bugs

i'm sure Australian beaches are amazing, i would love to visit. all of my friends who visited always came back gushing and telling me to go. one of this days

haha...i have this small fujitsu finepix camera. it's a snapshot camera unlike my nikon digital slr it doesn't have many shooting options. that's why i call it dinky (it's nicer than saying crappy).

it's just so tiny and so much easier to carry than the slr camera and i don't look like a weirdo running with a big camera.

i think i'm the bigger chicken here. i would be scared to be walking around that area by myself, i would be so jumpy and it would be hard to shoot with one hand as the other would be holding peperspray

i think a hockey player would be your best choice, they love to fight plus missing teeth scare people (who knows he could be just a crazy person)
ok what is anti-bears spray??? never heard of it. is it just that strong or is meant to ward off bears? if i see a bear i drop, curl into a fetal position, and play dead and not just dead but someone who's been dead for weeks

anti-bears spray is just (i think) pepperspray. it's pretty popular in british-columbia, haha. the bottle is bigger, i don't think you can put it your pocket and the spray must be stronger if you wish to scare a bear... but i never tried it so i'm not 100% sure.

a lot of noise to scare a bear? what if the bear is deaf and he can't hear you at all but he will see you straining and jumping about (trying to make tons of noise) and he'll take it as you antagonizing him...hehe just kidding. i heard of making noise too to scare the bear off but honestly i'd rather not have to test either

hahaha ! if the bear is deaf... hmmmm... dunno what i would do hahaha ! i think the best solution is to bring a robotic dinosaur and two really sexy bodyguards when you decide to go hiking

Horizonatlly. I feel you don't need so much beach. And by getting rid of some of it you will get the horizon out of the center. use the old tired and true "rules of thirds" most times. [link]

Exactly...I didn't want you to touch the sky...just the sand...as you did in one of the versions. I think it works much better but more importantly, what do you think?

atta a girl...stick to your convictions. I'm glad you have an open mind though...so many people get upset when someone says anything other than "great shot." I always intend to be helpful and never hurtful on a piece of work that is worth it. The crap I just walk on by without a word said.

yeah i know, no matter how gentle you can be some will still be upset with you. i like constructive criticism because it might give me ideas that i wouldn't have otherwise. like with this shot, i felt something was a bit off but couldn't figure out what to do about it until you said something and then it made sense. so

i cropped out a bit already but i also took out some of the sky as well and i think that is what tipped the balance. i'll work on it some more.

i don't disagree that it could use a little more contrast. i was worried that it might make the image a bit too dark. i'll play with it a little more and see if i can do something about it. thanks for the letting me know!

Well you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE Silhouette shots!!! This is stunning! The incoming clouds almost look like a giant spaceship like in the movie Independence Day! The sun rays are neat in this shot as well!

it was a huge continuous cloud, a part of it is missing because i cut it out but it looked like a giant wave that was about to cover the pier and the entire beach.
i super happy about the rays and how fairly clearly they came out. i have another version that i did not post but it actually has the part of the sun visible and the rays actually shooting off of it.
