Description Summer, Year 756 of the New Age
Silverthorne, Outskirts of The Silver Vale

Grian's morning came with a sigh of relief among the Silverthornes, who had been subjected to days of rain just before. While the sky was still cloudy and grey-ish, the presence of sunlight gave many the hope that it would be gone for now. Right about now the young fawns and their mothers would be waking up to greet the day, and soldiers would be preparing to train and practice - as was the routine every day. However, one stag would not be among those, for he was on patrol.

Having returned from his trek out to the border and back - secretly hoping to have found some sort of trace of his sister - he took the duty of patrolling about the edge of the vale. It was a duty usually assigned to the new soldiers, but as an act of kindness he would take the job for today. Skul was fatigued, but his job was more important to him and his physical state, and in his mind he would "work now, rest later" - as was his ethic on most situations. So, regardless of how he felt, Skuldafn kept his head high and trotted on.

The sun shone brightly on his golden back, warming it to the touch, and against the cool morning air it sent a smile into the older stag. Picking up his step, he felt the urge to show himself a bit. Normally, he was not one to show off - but feeling the sun on his back and having the joy of doing his job - as well as the additional fact that no one was there to watch him - Skul decided that for a brief moment it would not hurt anyone. Concentrating his mind to set off a "spark", he ignited his antlers into an inferno of flames. The fire flicked and consumed the tips of his rack, shining brightly on his dew-soaked coat. Skul trotted for a bit longer before halting to look about the area.

He had come to the near end of his patrol route, and by that time he could make out the familiar bodies of the fawnlings that he led over as a General. Many were fully awake and out about grazing and socializing. The new born fawns of the summer clung to their mothers and nursed, while the older spring fawns struggled to break from their mother's sight to frolic and play with the others. The thought that he helped to keep them safe gave him the rush that no other situation could offer him. He smiled, letting the flames on his antlers fade into the open air, and stood to watch for a while. Eventually as the sun creeped higher in the sky and the clouds began to clear, he found it was about time for him to return before others would start to worry, and so with that he began his path to the center at a brisk trot and with a gentle expression on his face.

Story to come soon (3/27/13) (Not my best story right now, I've had to write like crazy all week pretty much and my brain is fried >.<) - my dog got sick just recently and I have to watch her to make sure she doesn't puke all over the place. Plus I'm working on an English paper on the side as well as my project for art. Thought I'd be able to do more on the internet today, but nope -guess not D:

Skuldafn proudly accepts the fire that flows through his veins as part of his own essence, so in combination with his physical abilities, in battle or serious fights he conjures flames to cloak his antlers - as shown here. Sometimes it will spawn from his feet, or from his tail/mane, but his antlers are his trademark XD Wanted to work on his magic skill a bit as well on some sort of demonstration on how he uses it. The last picture I did of his antler-firre was nice, but I wanted to practice/show it more. Also, I tried a new method of shading on this - safe to say it was a challenge for me,so I might fall back on my old way for a while until I get more comfortable with it.
