The roses are gorgeous, but the vase seems out of place. It also seems weirdly shaped, although that could just be the angle at which you photographed the painting.
How did you get that water-stained effect in the background?

hm, yeah the vase is oddly shaped...thats because once i painted it i didnt want to go back to fix it only to make it worse. the water stain effect came from exactly what you would think, water! this piece was really just an experiment for a still life painting and to learn how to make the drippy lines. so i suppose it was sort of a success.
they way i did it was i just layered on some paint and sprayed it with water, and did this over and over till i got the right look. im really not sure if this is the most effective way to do this though
