This is what I call "a distraction". I needed a nice break from the daily grind of work and my graphic novel. I'd been introduced to the joys of a poser program called DAZ over the weekend. It was enough fun for me to splurge on some of the content DAZ sells. Think "grown-up barbie doll". As I was posing and playing with one of the dresses for the female figure DAZ sells, I found that I really, really liked this pose and angle. I'm still new enough with the program not to know how to change the render settings from the default, and I didn't like the resolution I got. So I opened it in photoshop and based this image off the render.

I was very bored.

I also hadn't done a painting in a while (work sucks), so I enjoyed the practice. It kinda proves to me that I NEED good photographic references when I work. I think only one other image in my gallery was based off any sort of photo/anatomically correct image, and that was from over a year ago.

Done in Photoshop 7, took about thirty hours altogether. Edit August 07--and this was a paint-over of the reference. Obviously a lot was improvised, the dress, the hair, the stuff in the hair, the lace, anything not in the reference. Just...wanted to make that clear.
