Description Something to kickstart a new year of promising new art in My gallery. And wallpaper sized for everyone to enjoy !
This is what I meant by the quality of My artworks sharply increasing after all those weeks spent making Photoshop brushes. But it was worth it. Just look at the comparison between this and My last space art - Venom .
I was expecting to save time aswell, but it took the average 15 hours or so. Probably because It was mostly experimenting with the new brushes. It was as if I suddenly gained heaps of artistic power and I had to learn how to control Myself otherwise I would have ruined it.

And the good news is... My space art is only going to get better than this from now on.

hmmm...looking at this and some of your other pics just now got me to thinking. i wonder what something like dark force from phantasy star ( imgur.com/3BXFOhE ) might look in this art style...i dunno, just a random thought is all.

these are some real nice pics though.

phantasy star is a rpg franchise that began on the sega genesis and iirc Dark Force (the main antagonist in most of the games) was basically a physical manifestation of enmity or simply negativity that would manifest and terrorize and attempt to destroy the Algo solar system once every thousand years only to be repelled (or destroy entirely if you follow the storyline of the 4th game i think) for another thousand years. in the 4th game it was revealed to be something far worse known as the profound darkness. i don't remember all the details about the profound darkness though as i haven't played that game in a while. but basically, every thousand years the seal keeping the profound darkness imprisoned would weaken and a small part of it (dark force) could slip through and wreak havoc. only in the 4th game the seal was weak enough for it to attempt to escape entirely.

if someone sees this and wants to, feel free to correct me if i got any of that wrong but i think i got the gist of it at least.

Ah, that's why I missed it. I was one of those unfortunate kids who never got the Genesis even though I really wanted to Fortunately I got to play some games I missed (or only got to play at a friend's house) thanks to being able to download them via the Wii Virtual Console But I never played any of those.

I know this is ages old...but how many layers did this take? Did you make earth yourself? And how did you get the center to shine like that? I think you can use the burn and another tool to bring out the highlights and shadows, is that what you did?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to DarkRedShyGuy [2010-12-27 04:45:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, I can't even remember how many layers. Couldn't have been that much though since the computer I did this on had only 512MB of RAM probably no more than 10, I also merged a lot of similar layers after I was done with them too. Even now I rarely go above 20

Try using the brush tool on "linear dodge" or "colour dodge" blending mode, it's even better than just the dodge tool on its own and you can choose the highlight colour too rather than just white

You imaginative skills never cease to be the number one most beautiful and impressive works of digital art that i have ever come across
nothing is ever overdone or sparse, everything compliments that which is with it and creates a soft but gorgeous harmony
don't ever change

Chromattix In reply to Starshine9268 [2010-02-17 00:23:25 +0000 UTC]

Lol, I doubt it's number 1 - or I'd be making millions by now but art varies depending on who views it and I'm happy you favour mine most of all (noticed that in your journal too ) I doubt I'll change much, I might get better at what I do but I'm rather content with my choice style and subjects that even I will amdit are more interesting than the often boring stuff that the "pros" draw

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Starshine9268 In reply to Chromattix [2010-02-17 00:32:39 +0000 UTC]

for me, It'll be number one for a very long time. people show me other didgital stuff and i'm like pfft, check this out (i will admit that i have saved a few of your pics on my laptop to show people when i don't have the net, but swear ON MY LIFE that i have not posted them anywhere - promise!)
yer, i always put you down as an 'awesome artist' in my journal and your always at the top of the list ^.^ I'm sure you'll continue to get better, and your choice of media, subjects and style is pritee cool (lol) some pros do draw some fairly boring stuff, but then you can come across the ones who do some EPIC stuff

I think space art is always grand when presented well too, one of the few things where you can use bizarre colours, yet can still get away with saying "those are realisic colours"

Hmm, Well you can try saving it and using it as your desktop background. But it may be a bit small. I have to limit how big my artworks can be saved as, due to the fact I'e had people steal, use, and even try making money off my art before sorry, glad you like it though!
