I can't write fanfiction because I picture scenes, not entire stories. But I enjoy thinking about how the characters would react in different situations.
Oh and don't look at the board to see who is winning, I am pretty sure there are 5 bishops in there.
BTW any idea how much older Nathaniel is to PC Cousland? I kind of imagine about 4-6 years but I can't tell.

I think Nathaniel's six (maybe seven) years older. That's the way I've always figured it, at least. I usually RP my Cousland as 20, so Nate's 26 or 27. And I love this picture and the drabble you wrote to go with it!

I think it varies from person to person how long it took. I originally thought it would've been a year or so, but then it crossed my mind that all the journeys would take days at least, and all that Deep Roads stuff that for us was a couple of hours, must have been several weeks in reality. A year would be a minimum, anyway - but I don't think it's so terribly strict. It's as long as people wish to imagine it.

I've been wondering about that age difference myself. I think I eventually ended up on 6 years, but originally I thought it might have been even more. He's definitely older than Alistair. Though, I've also seen fics, like :iceprincessd: 's, where their age difference is only a couple of years. It depends on how you RP the origins, I guess. And how you choose the character's complexion

He seems very old but I can't imagine him to be more then early twenties because who is squired so far into adulthood?
It's like sending a kid to boarding school and forgetting to take him out till he is thirty.

exactly - though I guess he must have been doing other things than being a squire - he's obviously very experienced. Then again, Dairren, the squire in the Cousland origin, is clearly past twenty as well. I'd still put Nathaniel's age closer to 30, even though he looks more like 35... His background story WAS very vague.

Funny; Nate never looked quite that old to me. And I always kind of assumed that some of that was because of his life as a scout, and then living as a pariah on his way back from the Marches. More hard life than much older man.
Maybe I've just read too many fanfics that place his age close to Fergus', who doesn't seem to be that much older than the PC.

Hehehe. I think it almost has to depend on how you make your warden look. For all their awesomeness, DAO/DAA have some serious age elasticity issues created simply by the fact that you can make your warden look like an old man/woman even though the origin story specifically says that they are the younger sibling, or still an apprentice, etc. Which I guess means that everyone's age has to be at least a little bit relative. ^^

Yeah, not many of them make much sense if your character is over, say, 25. My original idea about the Cousland warden was that she would've been just 19 at the beginning of the blight, but I've been more settled recently on Cousland 21, Fergus 25, Nathaniel 26 (so during Awakening two years on top of that.). But it's very much up to people's personal ideas, how much they perceive Cousland warden having age difference to Fergus, and that sort of thing. Fergus can't be VERY young, seeing as he has an approximately 5-year-old son. ^^

It is a mystery. Here is another "Awakenings mystery" that will blow your mind. Oghren got married, conceived a child, and had the kid long enough to have the urge to up and leave, in only six months. Dwarfs must have a gestation period of a cat or something.
