Description Entry Twenty-two for my 25 Days of Who.  Yes, I support Wholock.

I can't believe there are only three days to go with this thing.  So, anyway, if I was with the Doctor, I'd probably convince him to forget the parallel universe inhibitions and make things like this happen.  Which might not be the greatest idea, but WHAT THE HEY.  Downey.  Cumberbatch.  MAKE IT HAPPEN, DOCTOR.

Funny how different their portrayals of Sherlock Holmes are.  I'm not sure they'd get along.  Cumberbatch does a lot less punching and revolver slinging, and Downey does a lot less of the armchair sleuthery.  One thing is the same, though: they both love their Watsons vewy vewy much.  But I suppose Law and Freeman would become best friends, finally finding somebody who knows what it's like to be in a "relationship" *cough* I mean "partnership" with a high-functioning sociopath.

What do you guys think about the movies vs. television show?  (I can't say I've seen enough of Elementary to have much of an opinion of it.)

Hey fellas, I'm doing commissions now, if you be interested!

Haha, I've always liked the idea of Cumberbatch Holmes and Downey Jr. Holmes meeting, but I've never really thought of how it would be possible. This explains everything! I love it!

Doctor Who is such a perfect mixture of sci-fi and fantasy, it's great for these things!  I want to draw Cumberbatch and Freeman in proper Victorian outfits now.

Yes, definitely. You know, I've been wanting to draw some Victorian Sherlock too, for a while now.

Hmm, between Downey & Cumberbatch?
Downey's version is more cocky (maybe because he also does Tony Stark) while Cumberbatch's is rude and doesn't realize when to suppress himself (which I find to be funny as heck).

Elementary's Sherlock is.... eccentric and cocky XD
I won't spoil too much, but you should see him having 3 cups of coffee an 2 espressos XDDD

If those two ever meet... they'd probably do a little deduction contest XD
Actually, someone created a comic where 3 versions of Sherlock & Watson interact... do you want the link?

It's so funny because Downey never really looks like he knows what he is doing, when he suddenly snaps to and totally rocks the situation.  Cumberbatch, however, is more prone to be immediately snarky and proud.  He's a bit more like Book!Sherlock.  Who is pretty contradictory at times, actually, since AC Doyle was a rushed and imperfect writer.  Some days he's up early dressed to the nines drinking tea and eating biscuits, quaintly deducing on Watson's appearance through the freshly polished teapot.  Other days he's sleeping in, shoving bread in his face for lunch, smoking like a fiend and scattering the ashes everywhere, and giving Watson the fright of his life by teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown.  Pretty hard character to pin down.

And of course I'll take the link

I guess it would be more accurate in saying that Downey's Characters are good at improvising XD
And Cumberbatch is.... the kind to want to be right all the time? XD

Cumby has his cute little scowl going because he's hit a breach in logic and he no likey

Downey will probably look like a scared rabbit, run around with his revolver, blow up at least two buildings, and figure out a solution.

Downey has a habit of, er, breaking things, while ben just is like, meh, i dont care what anyone thinks unless they think im stupid, *grins over reference* and hes neat and tidy with his doings

They each represent a different axis of Holmes.  Cumberbatch represents the imperial intellectual, Downey the batty adventurer.  But they overlap quite a bit.

As I try and not laugh at that.....

Holmes bashing would be... a tragic accident.

By the way! My friend watched Game of Shadows the other day! She told me I had a theme song! Its the one at the very end. Its by Hans Zimmer, its called "The End?" and shes like 'YOU MUST BUY THIS SONG ITS LIKE SO YOU' and I bought it. And now, I have a theme song.

ChrysophylaxCreates In reply to Jak2299 [2013-12-27 20:29:44 +0000 UTC]

Congratulations.  Hans Zimmer's soundtrack was my theme song for ever so many months.  Now I get it mixed up with the Sherlock bbc soundtrack when I'm humming, but it's definitely the BOSS theme.  I love Game of Shadows.  I saw it in theatres, and I screamed and screamed and bawled and did all those fangirly things.  Plus, I knew what stories they used from the original books in the credits scroll, which made me feel REALLY nerdy.
