I decided to rewrite the comments on this because I sounded like a spaz. o.0I started this before Xenosaga Ep II came out and eventually finished it a while after it came out here. I also started Shion, but never completed her.
I started with the original picture which I did a quick (and ugly) sketch of. I traced a couple details that were difficult to get exact. Then I redrew the entire thing as a clean outline (on the left).
Then I copied the outline and began to add in the colours. This whole piece took at least 15 hours, probably longer. The hair and eyes aren't perfect, but it's difficult to get the same effect. A 3D model can have many strands on it's head, while pixels are very limited. I may try to redo the hair at some point, but I'm not sure how to make it look better.
Xenosaga is Copyright to Namco and Monolith Software.
M.O.M.O is still massively cute in Xenosaga II, I like her this way more than in the first one.
PS: For those who do not believe this is pixelled, please zoom into the image. Try looking at the blue parts and the tights, I think it is the most evident there. Obviously I worked from a reference and this is not an original work of mine, it was practice :3

Ah yes, the classic Microsoft Paint Program... I am a BIG fan of that program. Except - instead of drawing pictures, I restore photographs. Epecially those celebrity photographs with the company logo going straight across the person's face... I like to get rid the annoying logo. But yeah, my whole point is that I DEFINATELY understand you when you say it hurts your eyes when looking at the large pixels for too long. But the finished product is always amazing when it is done, just as it shows in you picture here. Yes, you may have invested 15 hours into it, but it is worth it in the end... look at all the comments and favourites you have gotten!! Isn't that amazing? It is something you can be truely proud of. After all, not many people are talented in the pixel-art department. It takes a lot of time and patience - and clearly, you have demonstrated your patience in pixel-art. The picture is brilliant with spectacular detail. It is without a doubt, amazing!

If anything it definately shows patients, but I think it shows so much more! I didnt even think it was pixel art til I full view'd, and I have to say it's amazing, all that effort really payed off! Definately a fav. Wonderful work!

Wow that is seriously amazing... If I tried to do something like that I think I'd kill whatever eyesight I have left. I really don't see anything wrong if the hair, honestly. And my only complaint about the new MOMO isn't so much a complaint but something I'm iffy on, but I'm not sure if I like her new voice on the US game. I got kinda attached to her first voice.
And in an earlier comment you said there was a Xenosaga anime? Are you serious? I almost had a heart attack when I read that. Who's subbing it if you don't might me asking?

Yeah, I don't like the new voices either. I'm dying for KOS-MOS' voice to come back..however the originals were pretty big VA's for north america, so they were probably busy (or namco couldn't afford them again).
There is a Xenosaga anime, the fansubs are listed at [link] ...it's pretty cheesy and bad. But it's still kinda fun to watch.

I've still got it in BMP format actually. There wasn't much loss on this one to jpeg anyways though. I don't see any pixellation and whatnot.
Gif didn't want to work properly (No matter what I did I kept getting strange color loss...stupid photoshop XD) so highest quality jpeg it had to be :3

Wow, this really is a pixel art style you don't see too often. Amazing effort to create a fully detailed pixel art piece this size. The shading and colors are beautiful.
