Not quite sure about the description for this one. I've been in a 'Japanese' mood as of late, and what better than attractive Japanese boys with katanas? And you just know he's got a motorcycle as a getaway vehicle. Anyhow, I liked the non-human element, though there's no peeling skin to reveal mechanical insides or whatnot. (I was never a fan of such.) I suppose you can take this as my traditional-charcoal-on-paper response to all the anime/manga/japanese stuff that goes around dA.

I absolutely adore this. I don't remember ever seeing it, which makes me kind of sad, but I just have to say that you are absolutely wonderful. You've done the portraits of two of my favorite J-rockers. And my favorite picture of each as well!
But I also have to say that you did a spectacular job with making his hair actually look blonde without making it look strange. And I also love how you made his eye look so clean.

It looks like Kyo, but then it doesn't. I love the tones and how you can work with the charcoal so well, I'm still... as I shall say... learning.

99% of the time I'm using compressed charcoal sticks. For tiny detail work I use extra-sharp charcoal pencils. Nothing fancy. Just the cheap stuff.

I think... I may need to download all your Japanese-singer-pieces and print them out to appease my friend. (I had showed her one from the flower-men series and one for the WM3, she adored your style. I told her you had drawn Miyavi, and she was immediately interested. So.)
It's interesting to see you do light-colored hair. Interesting... pretty and still very hair-like, although more fluffy and soft looking than it probably really is. But that's what atmosphere is all about, eh?
I don't particularly like this piece compared to the others, but it's likely a matter of personal taste. Artistically, it's still nice.
