14" x 20" Charcoal on 90 lb. paper.All thanks go to bionic7 [link] for allowing me to use his gorgeous artwork to produce my own.
This was one of the most difficult drawings I've done in quite some time. Getting the halo and cross to 'glow' via charcoal seemed next to impossible but I think I managed to do a decent job of it. I'm also happy with the likeness to Mr. Casteels himself.
Titled 'The Seventh Archangel' in reference to the '7' in bionic's name (giving credit where credit is due, of course) and the 'archangel' because bionic7's original deviation has 'angel' in the title--a bit of a play on the fact that this piece wouldn't exist if bionic7's didn't.
A few serious deviations from the original: the wings, which I wanted to appear as though they were fading or somewhat ghostly to counter the dynamic appearance of the figure in the image, and I omitted the heart and decay upon the chest and opted to simply darken that part out.
Um um um... about two nights work. Average for me.

Forgot to add before, but I really like how you PLAY with the shadows and really own at the anatomy. Very realistic drawing... In fact so good, I didn't want to bother clicking on the thumb because I thought it was just another photo

i love it even though this doesnt fit into my religion(pagan if questioned) i really like how it is done, it gives more of a darker angel then one that is light to me atleast, i think you did a real good job, i wouldnt beable to do this

Thank you. Full credit has to be given to bionic7 [link] for the concept, however. I loved the idea of a darker angel as well, which is what drew me to this piece in the first place. That and the idea of giving something glow in a charcoal piece. Quite a challenge, let me tell ya'.
