Description I am so happy to present you one of my favorites shots i have taken this year. this photo is already chosen for an exhebition i am preparing in Ljubljana, Slovenia next year. So slovenians should not see this picture, but there are not many on DA so I think that I can submit it...

Of course picture is special for itself...but why do I like it so much? It was taken in a town called Nuoro in Sardinia... I was walking around and taking shots of people...and than i found a small park. i sat on the bench and i put my camera in the rucksack... i was just watching people ... there were children playing football and i was just watching...
and than i see this man and his dog... the way they sat was amazing! and i was impressed how similar they are. i took out my camera slowly (because i didnt want that anyone noticed me) and i dont know how, but i captured that moment when they both looked away...

i dont know if you totaly understood me. but sometimes taking shots all over is not very clever.... it is better to sit down and wait.... dont worry there are always good motives and moments...you just have to take time and open your eyes...

Hi, I'm from Nuoro, and I was impressed to see a picture like that especially on DA. The subject in the photo is very well known in our parts, however I am pleased to say to the world the existence of our small town.
Great Photo

I like the sincerity of this photograph. There's no acting, posing in front of the camera...and it sort of captures the moment.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful piece.

LOL! you're very lucky to get a shot like this. usually when I take pictures, the people or animals or whatever always move when I don't want them to and they don't when I do want them to.

Great photo indeed, but there seems to be a black stain in the background in the middle of the image. What's that? Isn't respectful to a magnificient capture such as this one.

thanks a lot mate. i appreciate it.

well that exhebition will be already my third solo exhebition. i want to make something very particular...and that will be street photography.... something about life of dogs and poeple...their similarity and connection...
i already had a meeting with a curator and we both agreed that it is better to wait just to get as quality as i can take... because i still need some photos to finish my story/collection....
and that is very difficult. it is very simple to take a single shot...but when it comes to collection, stories... that is something i have been learning in past months a lot (workshops and so on...)

there are so many answers to this questions....
but i can answer you how did i get to the level that i am now.
99% of hard wark and learning and only if only 1% of talent.

Keep that up!

so many people are saying about talent.
hey there is only 1% of talent....
99%? hard working. really.

thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

manaxmomo In reply to Ciril [2004-11-14 22:47:59 +0000 UTC]

I know
I meant a different kind of talent. Not everyone has the talent of just taking pictures of people they don't know at all. I am always struggling with that, for example. I would love to take pictures for the National Geographic (I guess that's the dream of a whole bunch of photographers ), but you might actually have the .. well, the right talent for that. What you do is capturing the moment, not composing them, that's worth a lot. It makes your pictures a lot more interesting.. and real. The only picture in my gallery I could say that of is Blue World

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

manaxmomo In reply to manaxmomo [2004-11-16 16:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Now I see your point
I can understand why you dislike the word talent. Somehow it means, that it's not you making good pictures, but your talent, right?
But that's not exactly what I meant, using this word. Of course I agree with you on that you need love and passion for photography, otherwise you'll never be good at it. Talent in my opinion doesn't mean, you're just good at something, without any reason. It's always about how much energy you can and want to put into learning something. I guess anyone could be good at anything, if they'd only dedicate enough time and energy to it. But you won't be able to develop any passion or love for something, if your always failing even though you know all the tricks and techniques; it's just no fun
What I call talent is a certain base, a natural ability of doing something, it's not a big thing, it just makes you enjoy what you're doing and at the same time allows you to make bigger steps learning it than you'd do learning something you're "not talented" in.
But in the end it really doesn't matter where your love for photography comes from, right?

Ciril In reply to manaxmomo [2004-11-15 00:11:16 +0000 UTC]

hehe
sorry i cant agree with you.... i know too many "well known" photographers in slovenia. one of them has already had photos in national geographic....
well all the great photographers that i know...from books and personaly.... i know that they have put a lot a lot of work into their photography. but what you need is love and passion to it...

there are so many books about street photography and people... there are so many tehniques and ways to get such shots... there is no talent.

so i would not say that i have a different talent...but i would say that i love very very much taking photos.... i am enjoying....and because of that i put a lot of eneergy into learning and so on...

At DA you are i think my favourite photographer. Many times it seems you understand the situation you are in, and just explain you feelings by the camera and photo. Ofcourse there are many great architechture photographers etc. But the photo's you make are just special, like a message. Photo's with people and surroundings wich caracterise the photo.

As always, your work are just plain amazing. The brilliance of color, always moderate to a fashion, and motifs so brilliant in their simplicity it's stunning. You dubbed this image Partners, but on it also frames individuality, with the two looking in opposite directions. The canine has a full metal chain around his neck, we can't see where it leads off, but the supposed owner is not holding a chain, but a simple rope, suggesting he's actually not the person holding the dog - which he most probably is of course, but since the picture is cropped we can read whatever we like into it.
And your camera is a magnificent beast when it comes to detail. That dog has blue eyes.
