That's wonderful! I've been doing a few "spirit of Africa" shots myself. This is a really nice take on that concept. The odd angle here really makes it feel magical, because part of the ground and the girl's face are the only things in focus. That's very rare. Great idea!

The colors are really nice in this but you know, it's a shame that you spoiled the photo in ps. It's kind of foolish too! A lens can't focus at two point unless it's a pano.
I wonder whether those people who commented even saw the photo with care or not.

My favourite thing about this photo is the focus, I love how basically only the face is in focus, it gives some very nice depth, lovely light, well done!

well, I would like it even more if the foucus was on her hand, and if the hand wasn't so blurry. I think that sand adds much to the originality of the piece, becouse without that it would look too ordinary.
nonetheless, it's a good work, she's beautiful and that's the most important

Stunning light, I would have prefered the DOF to include her hand in focus as well as her face, but that's only my opinion

Nice one! I like the strong colours here. Shallow depth of field can be a nice effect, but for me it's not quite right in this one. Might've looked better with focus on her hand perhaps?
What lens did you use by the way? Is that f1.4/8 or thereabouts? I bought an 85mm f1.4 for my Nikon recently, great for portraits, but I'm considering getting a 50mm as well.

The colors focus and atmosphere are excellent but I find it hard to see africa in this... something more around the border of innocence? perhaps... just wondering... was this taken with Canon AE1?
