Sorry to those who've already seen this on Tumblr, but I-I like it enough to post here, lolol.I love reading the fights on dA about "styles", and while I do think it's good to have them (especially in cases where it's making you money), it's not smart to rely on them completely. It'd be pretty cool if the people set too deep in their "styles" would branch out and try different things, like realism for example, to prove that they're capable of growing and being diverse. All too often, however, having a style makes them stagnant and boring. But that's just my observation. (And no I'm not hinting at anyone in particular, lol.)
Been taking a closer look at my own art and finding flaws that really bother me. orz Saying it's "my styyyle" doesn't excuse not knowing how to draw.
Also; I've realized that having a style (particularly anime) really isn't great for defining different racial features, as everyone's likely to end up looking the same. Matsumi actually looks Asian here, whereas when I usually draw him, he just looks white with dark hair. For shame.

Even in a more realistic style, your own little personal touches really came out in the facial features. Such a fantastic job, and you're very right about being able to branch out artistically and trying new things.

LOL NO NO, I'D NEVER SAY THAT. Really what I mean is more directed to the people who *refuse* to move on. xD I like your style, and I've seen it change! So that's great. But the people who don't think they need any practice, knowledge of anatomy, stuff like that... Those are the people who become stagnant and boring.

Fffsrsly. And what's even sadder is when they actually do have some talent; they think they've done all there is to do and that they've climbed to the top rung, when in reality, not so much.
