A few months ago I randomly stumbled upon the Caravan editor which allows for very easy sprite hacking of Shining Force 2, and since then I've been having the time of my life. Most changes I've done so far are small so I didn't bother posting here (they're on Tumblr if you're curious though), but I felt these monks deserve to be here since I had to redraw most of the hair, not to mention the cool as heck flower pattern for Karna (they're carnations, get it?) which i can't believe i've managed to do with pixels lmao it was a mess. Why all the different palettes? Because these girls look gorgeous in anything and I couldn't decide lmao
About the overworld sprites: all ow sprites in SF2 share the same palette (which is also shared with the UI), and that palette does not have purple, which is why Karnaβs og sprite looks terribly off. So I replaced the pink color in the og with purple, because Karna Deserves It. Unfortunately it does mess with Every Other Sprite That Uses Pink, so to use those you have to then go fix everything else. I guess not everyone will want to have all that trouble (a shame because again, Karna Deserves It), so I made extra versions with the original palette too, because I love giving myself more work.
Edit 09/11/2022: added uppercut sprites. Turns out the special critical hit animation for monks still runs even if you have assigned them to another animation slot. So their last attack frame has to be a jumping one. However the og kick looks too weird for normal animation in another slot since without the sprite going upwards it looks too low (and it's already as high as it can go in the 96x96 canvas), so I'm hoping the uppercut is a good compromise for both. Also it looks cool.
