Just to answer your question why fans as of recently have so many issues with the Games and Sega.

Beside the ever since Sonic adventure existing war between Classic and Modern did Sonic drastically change in recent years starting in Unleashed and really hitting in Colors this massiv ton Change was at first viewed in 2 ways 
1)People that liked it and praised it 
And
2)People that didn't like it but were optimistic that this would be just temporary 
But with this style sicking since 2010 and the complete disregarding of previous continuity and the massiv disrespect towards the whole supporting cast (devolving Tails, Amy, knuckles and Shadow past the point there ones started and taking anything interesting away from sonic turning him into a person that is just bored with everything and has no sign of the adventure loving hero he use to be) and after nearly 7 years with little to no improvement did the side that was rather quit during Colors release have enough of this and were with the abysmal Sale numbers of Boom and Lost world given a weapon against this style similar to Classic fans using Sonic 06 as excuse why everything that isn't the Classics is bad.
And with this are we right now in a fanbase war between the Classic only people, the Fans of Character driven story with respect for everyone and the fans of silly humor with no respect for anyone.
And Sega (sonic team in particular) are in a rather bad spot because most of the things people complain about nowadays go back the creative decisions made By Current head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka who also during multible interviews in reasoned memories made statements about upcoming games or in-universe Lore that was wrong panting him as a liar and someone that doesn't know the series he is suppose to be in charge of.

So I hope you can now understand why many passionate fans fight for the interpretation of sonic there want to stick and against one there can't stand.

"He saved my life," huh? Nice to see I'm not the only one that can say that. I was staring to think I was some kind of oddball... I mean more then I really am, that is.

BTW, how did you get his teeth to look so nice? I've tried adding his canines in my own illustrations, but they never turn out right.
