People mentioned Hopper. The moment I saw this in preview, I thought "Nighthawks" (plus lots of color!). I love the spontaneity of the moment, so alive.

I could see this as an album cover...I'm going to NY on Thursday and now that I've seen this picture I'm really excited to go back, it gives me some inspiration for my trip, since I'm going mostly to take pics!

this could be the inspiration to an edward hopper painting. it was the first thing i thought of when i saw it. i like how the guy's shadow looks like it's sitting down.

funny you say this...
[link]
about 30 minutes after i took this photo i wandered into a bar in soho. met this crazy artist/painter who i showed my work to. he told me it reminded him a lot of hopper. i find this all pretty funny!

this is coincidental.
i was looking at severin's blog today and he menioned gregory crewdson, and when i looked at crewdson's work it immediately made me think of edward hopper... and i loved it...
and then completely unrelatedly i look at your stuff, see this, love it, and think of hopper. all on the very same day.
glorious.

ok ill tell u what i think...
firstly, i like the perspective of the building... its really cool..
i like the motion of the man too
what i find to be a little off is that there are SO many colours... and because of this, not one single viewpoint.
what i mean is that the neon sign draws your attention, the red glow of the image makes u look at the picture as a whole, while the perspective draws you in as well. and the right side of the building does not draw attention at all so its a little off-balance.
to me, i think it would be better if there was just ONE thing that draws attention, so its not so busy
BUT, in saying that, that might have been the idea, given that it IS new york and probably busy as all hell...
and remember, i am not a photographer - just speaking my mind as an observer
nice pic though, and the noise isn't noticeable until you read the comment hehe

i like this photo more than some of your other NY pictures.
color is very important to NYC at night, i believe. the neon gives it a dirty glow that it deserves.
i really like that it's a corner shot, it makes the composition that much better.

(oops... wasn't finished)
also, the man's shadowS (there are two) add a lot to the photo.
in my opinion, this shot is much more real than some of your other pieces. which is why i prefer it.
just thought i'd give some real critizism, not just "ooh. pretty!"

manhatten is so much more beautiful at night. in the day it's dirtier. at night it comes alive.
don't notice the noise really. i like the man stepping out of the frame with his dog...

you always have a story, yes?
whenever I put "yes?" at the end of a sentence I'm reminded of the creepy guy in clockwork orange... yes, there are many creepy men in that movie, but the creepy one who calls him "little alex" and grabs his groin (as I recall).
about the picture, I quite enjoy the man's shadow on the building, how it's split in half like he's melting. or he has no legs. OR his legs are immobile...
