Description So I was looking at my X-wing model, and comparing it to images on the Internet, trying to figure out how to fix it, but there were so many issues with it, literally from the cockpit to the engines themselves, that I decided it would be easier to simply remodel the whole thing. I made certain to include the little dimple on the front of the nose, with all the details inside (I have no clue what that thing is, though) and the torpedo tubes below, you can just about see them, and the little yellow astromech droid behind the cockpit. The cockpit looks a little small, but it was modeled to fit with the images and model I was using as reference, so...
I'll do the S-foils later, the detail and overall shape of them is something else entirely. Oh, and this model's not yet rigged.

Looks good, but you need a bit more light in the scene. Also, don't worry about the background till later on. All it does is slows down the workflow. But Yeah, sometimes you just have to start over. I had to do 2 AT-AT heads before I got the one I'm using now.  You could probably reuse a lot from the old one as well.

Thanks! Yeah, lighting will always be a problem with the X-wing, since George Lucas decided that the starfighters wouldn't have lights. My best bet currently is either putting the X-wing next to a planet or turning ambient occlusion up. The background is a relic from the previous model, the only thing I saved. (I have two other files with the other X-wing model in, though). I may get rid of it in favor of the planet, though. I looked at my X-wing for anything salvageable, already, and found nothing, everything was wrong, the cockpit, the hull, the S-foils, the laser cannons, etc. Hence why I started over.

All you gotta do is angle the sun differently to light it better, that's what I meant. But yeah, sometimes just starting over is best.
