In order to stay in a certain timeline for longer Ven has to ingest or submerge herself in the blood of young people, male or female. She got the idea from a book about some mad queen in the 1600s and lo-and-behold the method worked for her too. If Ven doesn't get enough vitality she will become resurrected into her own timeline, a constantly progressing timeline where her body has already rotted away and left an apparition of herself, so you understand why she prefers to timehop. In order to timehop again this spirit has to posses a living being and take its vitality, because death is the closest window for travel that you can secure in the mortal realm.

It takes a long time to fill a bathtub with blood, so this is a treat for her. Usually she just eats people, most often by the method of trapping and torturing. Scared flesh tastes fresh.
