Summer snowA huge amount of snow is still present in the Austrian alps. Because of the rough past winter, most of the snow will not disappear until late fall. Which is good for the melting glaciers.
The mountain peak in the background is called Alteck (2942m). Highest surrounding peak is the Hoher Sonnenblick (3106m).
The region is famous for its gold mining past. Many ruins at high altitude are an evidence of this time.
