i did this because i thought it was necessary. partially because of boredom and the yearning to make more stamps. what can i say? THEY'RE ADDICTING!
THE GENS THAT HAVE HEARTS NEXT TO THEM ARE MY FAVES!
anyway, i made this because i'm kind of embarrassed by all the bronies going to videos of older mlp generations and commenting stuff like, "this sucks, mlp:fim is the best", becuase not everyone feels that way. also, if it weren't for those older gens, we wouldn't have mlp! we also wouldn't have applejack or spike without g1. some people like multiple generations, like me. personally, i like something about every generation (except g3.5, i can't stand them XP):
G1- i like the toys and the art style, and i also like the shows in a way; i think they were good, but the girly stereotype is a big influence and not a lot of the characters really have that much of a personality... and i also love the show "my little pony tales" and the characters. they actually have personalities, even if not by much. G2- to be honest, i pretty much know nothing about g2 and never looked into it, cuz i kinda thought the toys looked weird.....
but the box art isn't bad at all. G3- not really a fan of the shows and movies, but i love the toys because i think they looked nice. also, i collected them and they were part of my childhood. i've found some of my childhood ponies, and i want to find the rest of them. i'm also looking into collecting them again. but again, they didn't really have unique personalities in the shows. but still, g3 has a special place in my heart and is one of my fave gens.G3.5- probably the only generation where i don't like anything about it. i just don't like the art style or the show. sorry.
G4- well, i love MOST of the fandom because i think we're awesome! i love the show and the art style, but i don't really like the toys; some are pretty inaccurate to the characters in the show, and in all, i think hasbro could put a little more effort into them quality-wise. so yes, enjoy, and please don't bash me because i'm only expressing an opinion.

I've never quite understood the whole 'characters didn't have personalities' thing in regards to G1-3, like, that was the whole point! You came up with our own stories and personalities and that was half the fun! My ponies could literally be anything I wanted in my imagination, and I think some people tend to forget that's how many of us think as children, we're just full of creativity <3Β

Also, given it was targeted towards the very young, do you think that kids work by that logic? You watch a a show and build off the story or disregard it completely - it doesn't matter when you're a kid. Also it's not like there were restrictions on anything within the shows - the stories were kinda designed to be built upon, haha.Β
I can understand it your point with other shows, where they were created first and foremost to tell a story, but 'toytoons' (the unofficial name for this variety of animation) are a different breed entirely given the intentions behind their creation. Sure they vary greatly in how good the actual plot is (from Jem to, say, Street Sharks) but in the end they were all created for marketing a product first and foremost.Β

They wereΒ made to sell toys yes but why didΒ you watch them, instead of just playing with the toys? did you like theΒ characters, the adventures or situations, the world it was set in ? Those are all part of the story, even 'toytoons' tell them, the creators just had different reasons to tell themΒ

My Little Pony is a series and a merchandise line. It isn't a way of life and opinions should be respected like anything else.
I will say that it is a little ironic that G4 fans disregard the older generations and think they aren't important in any way. Bashing something, especially without reason, is unnecessary and not helpful. It's only hurtful and doesn't benefit you or anybody else. Criticism with reason and integrity should be respected though, even if you don't like it.
And to my original point, I think in general, bronies/pegasisters/MLP fans shouldn't crack down on people who don't like MLP. It's just a franchise, even if you can't possibly see how anyone can't like MLP, follow your own freaking motto and tolerate those people.
And frankly, if you hate MLP that's fine, but it isn't right to hate people or tell them to kill themself just because they like My Little Pony. I won't deny the dark side of the brony fandom, and if you don't approve of it I understand. But hating someone just because they like My Little Pony is wrong. If you feel the need to hate someone, hate someone whose actions are terrible, like Hitler. Even if you dislike a brony/pegasister for something they've done, and even if it's because they like My Little Pony, don't hate on them simply for liking it. This shouldn't even need to be said, but yet here I am. If you like MLP, that's none of my business. If you hate MLP, that's none of my business. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, both are just fine. Hating MLP doesn't make you a bad person, although hate on a franchise is a lot of emotion spent into something that's fruitless, really. Hating something won't make it go away, so just go on disliking MLP and use your hate on what deserves to be hated.

I LOVE G1 and G4! I think G3 is pretty okay, too. Newborn Cuties has scary animation but the stories are overall harmless!
