He looks like something I'd want as a pet. XD A horse sized tyrannosaur, I'd want to ride him into battle or something.

Who wants to ride a dragon into battle when you can have a horse-sized tyrannosaur? He's of course also an ideal pet, provided you live in or near the countryside so he'll have lots of space to run.

Ayup! Although a dragon is quite the tempting mount, I think I shall save it for when I'm needed in battle against dark lords or gods hell bent on world destruction. For normal rabble rousing warlords a Timurlengia shall do nicely.

Sounds like a good plan, especially considering how much space and food a dragon needs when compared to a Timurlengia. Only use in dire circumstances!

1997, I think, but the Brusatte et al. paper on it was published yesterday.

All it says is "a tyrannosauroid". Now it has a name and a published description, hence "new", just like Dakotaraptor was new in 2015 despite having remains found since 2005. That's all, and I'm not interested in arguing further.

That's interesting! Though it still doesn't seem to have a name in that paper, which it finally does have in the 2016 paper. Since both authors of the 2011 paper are co-authors on the 1998 and 2016 papers, there's probably a reason for why it wasn't named back in 2011, although I won't pretend to know why. Maybe lots of nefarious research took place in that timespan. In any case, it now has a name and that's fantastic.
