Description Am afraid my patience wore off with this before it could really be said to be decently finished...but it's another experimental piece, so I'm chalking everything up to learning! And I did learn a lot. I should have been happier with the original line art before I started fiddling with it instead of jumping in, and I still have a lot to learn about lighting and shade effects.

I may return to this, but I'm at the "over it" stage, so it's probably best to do something else before I get too bogged down.

I hope you do come back to this. If you do not, though, it's already dazzling. Something strikes me as off about the legs and possibly the relative positions of mouth and eyes, but even there I could never do half so well as you have. I love how things shine- the buttons and brocade on his vest, his hair. The background-the view out the window-is just perfect.
For Enjolras in Heaven I hope all days are radiant as this one. I wonder what is going through his mind here? Was he working or sleeping before? What really happens in his dreams?

On second thought, the face also is exactly as it should be.

Ohay, me again. Still looking through your work at random. Admittedly I like your stuff mostly because it inspires me. What I think about when I see this is Grantaire coming to him early in the morning (judging from the lighting, though I could be wrong) just to bother him. He enters the room and sees that. It takes his breath away. And then later, he paints it. Because what's more beautiful than Enjolras in the sunshine? (Maybe Enjolras in the moonlight?)

Aww it's great. Enj's face looks so free and reminds me of your another pic, maybe "The Mistral". Detailly I love the golden buttens (like his blond hair) and blue waistcoat with the delicate pattern... I also love pink and light blue sky and white houses in the background. The effect of light is so graceful.
Oh I can't express well! Anyway it's gorgeous.

This is lovely. I especially like the background, the details on the houses and the pretty pink/blue colour of the sky, and how the pink also kind of glows on Enjolras. You've captured a very peaceful moment here.

I like the vest, and the pattern on the fabric. However, his left leg does seem a bit short and his face oddly square. The background is lovely, very picturesque and detailed (MAJOR PROPS ON THE IRON SCROLL WORK. FIFTY GOLD CANDIES FOR THAT)

However I am worried that he'll nod off and roll out the window.

Thanks for the concrit - I'm afraid it is very failish I probably shouldn't have put it up...I reached an "over it" point. The foreshortening on the left leg at an angle is what's making it seem oddly proportioned...I handled that very crudely, and may need to try and do something to fix it. I'm not happy at all with his left sleeve, either. Not sure about the face...it could be that because his chin is raised and is on level with the viewer, it gives his face a more square appearance? I can try to do something with his jawline and the shading on it.

I think the reason he looks a bit off as a whole has something to do with the lighting. Something about it is off and I can't quite put my finger on it. He's very reflective and it gives him a look like he's wearing all satin (or made of satin).

It's not totally failish, it just has odd elements and they all add up (kind of like EVERYTHING I draw. I'll love the hair and hate the nose and vice versa).

I'm not sure what's going on with his face. I think it's the very sharp angle of the cheekbone (and it probably has a lot to do with the lighting/shading). Probably the best thing to do is leave it be before your head asplodes from overthinking it.

No lie, I thought this was a photo from the thumbnail! Definitely a different style but just as lovely!

Glad you like it...yes, the digital art does give it a different feel. I'll be doing some traditional media work over Christmas, though.

The background and expression are really spot-on here.

Thank you! I had a few troubles with the expression - liked it close up, but it didn't work on full view.

I love the design on his vest, and his tranquil expression. The position of his hands and legs is very nice as well.

Many thanks, Spirit-Lily! I'd do the vest differently next time, though...I was zoomed in for the pattern, and should have done it so it stood out better at this distance. Ah well - still learning.

Sorry, but what part of this isn't "decently finished"? It looks quite 'decently finished" to me!

As always, it's fantastic. I had to zoom in to convince myself that the background is actually painted. And oooooh, the light play! I love the way you drew the rays of light.

There's some awkwardness to it...but I just spent too long on it and was feeling bogged down and "over it" (one evening I lost hours worth of work when my computer crashed and I'd forgotten to save). I'm glad you like it

This is amazing! I love these experiments of yours with light + Enjolras. Somehow a different aspect gets captured each time.

Thank you! It's a fairly obvious literal play with some of the imagery in the book, but he's so tempting to light in various ways.

I just don't know if I should cry or laugh. Your picture went straight to my heart.
I simply wish I could step in that picture and sit next to him. Enjy looks so dreamy and I love the sunlight coming trough the window. It really gives a warm touch. And the background is so typical Paris. Honestly on first glance – I believed, I was looking at a photo.
Just wonderful.

Thanks Meg I'm still fumbling my way through lighting effects, and of course Enjolras is all about light, so it seemed an opportunity to play with that!

I think you doing great.
By the way: Did you use a photo as reverence for the background? It looks so familiar to me - I could swear I've seen that once in Paris form my hotel room.
