Days had quickly turned to weeks, and Durango was struggling to keep his hopes up. These two-legged beasts, they had placed him inside a pointed prison, one that pained his flesh during any attempts to escape it. The stallion's chest was battered and bruised, not by the humans' doing, but by Durangos desire to constantly test the fences. He was a wild one. No matter his age, or hurts; his heart would always remain wild!

With a recent change in weather, the deep snows had finally faded from the land. The foliage had yet to regain its healthy green color, and there was still a chill upon the air; however, the change was enough to assist in Durango's fight against sickness. The stallion's lungs remained sore from coughing, but all the mucus had finally been expelled. He was on the rise, his condition becoming better by the day.

"What do you think?" One human said to another, both observing the mustang from outside the enclosure. "If he were a mare, I'd suggest auction. But... his genes are interesting enough for release. He could still produce some gorgeous offspring that draw tourist attention." With a nod, an agreement was settled upon. Durango would be released as soon as he received a clean bill of health. For now, he'd stay a few more days at minimum.

The stallion's ears remained flat and backwards-facing as the humans' language tainted the air. He hated them. The poking, the prodding, the loud and foreign sounds, this harmful prison. Durango wanted nothing more than to return to his home, to churn the dirts of a wayward path and vanish into the distant forests.
