I want to see at least 3 broadway shows and so far I've seen... none. I mean, I saw one, but it was with a local cast in my state. not in New York.

oh, it's about an ex-convict named Jean Valjean (aka "Prisoner 24601") being released from 19 years of imprisonment (5 years for stealing a mouthful of bread to feed his sister's child who was close to death, the rest for trying to escape), but on parole. He is then taken in by a bishop, but he steels some silver and makes a run for it. He gets caught, but the bishop tells the officers that he simply gave the silver to Jean Valjean and that they may release him. After the officers leave, the bishop also gives Jean Valjean two silver candle sticks, but tells him "And remember this my brother, see this in some higher plan. You must use this precious silver, to become an honest man. By the witness of the martyrs, by the passion and the blood, God has raised you out of darkness, I have bought your soul for God." So Jean Valjean is forced to become a better man, but he cannot escape his dark past. Besides following his story, it also follows fellow students who are fighting at the barricade for the right of the poor to be free.
It's a rather sad story, but I love the music.
