thank you kindly. It's a traditional shot that I have taken every year for the last 11 years at White Sands New Mexico during our youth road trips.

Where at White Sands did you photograph this? I am planning a trip there myself for some film work and I love this shot.

You just drive into the dunes on the roads about 4 miles. You stop wherever the dunes look the steepest. Then you get out and have a helluva lot of fun. If you bring a plastic snow sled, you can sled down the dunes. You can also sled down the dunes on nylon sleeping bags, but then you have a sleeping bag full of white sand afterwards.
Go early in the day or late in the day if you go in summertime. It will be pretty damn hot from about 11 to night-thirty, but at least the sunsets are gorgeous.
It opens at 7 am.
You cannot camp there overnight without special permission.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WATER!!!!!!!!!BRING YOUR OWN WATER AND BRING LOTS OF IT.

we do this shot every year for the last 11 years.
They are not models, they are us on one of our 3000 mile road trips out west that we do each year.
Maybe I'll post some other ones. All of the shots are pretty damn crazy. We have some hell yeah times road trippin.

by "models" i simply meant your subjects in the pic, wow, thats a big school trip, ive never had anything like that at any school ive ever gone to. i would love to go on a road trip with all my friends, sounds so fun!

You don't need to edit it. I like it just how it is. I have photographed White Sands for years, and the color of this photograph is the actual color of things there, due to the extreme whiteness of the sand. If I wanted it boosted to kodachrome colors, I would have done so already.
Look at my other examples of White Sands to get an idea of how to digitally edit and alter lighting in a very difficult to photograph environment. You'll see that there are many ways to handle it.
