Description Where to start...

This was originally supposed to be a Leo and Don piece, based off of issue #37 of the Mirage TMNT, with Donnie as the Shaman and Leo as his chosen warrior. Don was going to have his cloak and they were going to have aura wisps along with the appropriate monochromatic colors.

Funny thing about Vol 1. is that I think Don runs across more supernatural stuff than any of the brothers. I kinda consider him the most spiritually open out of all the turtles because of it, with Leo's spirituality being more martial arts based instead of the "open to spirits" kind. The scientist seeks the truth in all things, and is open to all possibilities as long as there's proof and reasonable process and willingness to explore. Any scientist that would dismiss out of hand without consideration of possibility and adherence to the scientific process is no scientist, just biased.

It's also why I do not like the Leo/Radical paring in Tales of the TMNT, because Don is the only one of the Turtles that had any real interaction with Radical on a one-on-one basis. It was in issue 27 of volume one. I will stick to my Leo/Renet pairing for Leo. Or in case of the 2k Turtles, Leo/Karai. Chaplin can go away, Leo/Karai had history, tension, and attraction. It just makes sense.

Back to the painting...

I ended up going with Raph and doing away with the aura wisps, though I kept the colors monochromatic. At least, I hope I did. The thing about red is that if you want variety in it, you should never add white. Either add orange, a brighter red, or a cool yellow if you want variance. White turns it to pink, and makes it either too wispy or too gaudy.

The interesting part was finishing the weapons. Decided to do those in opposite colors, with Raph sai done with mostly blue and Leo ninjato in mostly red/orange/yellow with hints of blue to keep it from being orange and sticking out too much.

It looks better in person...
I just wanted to make something that people could put up on their walls and think "this is cool" because it's cool looking and other people would say "this is cool" too.

Something like that.

Such is life.
