Description A house I built in Minecraft. I was going for sort of a French style house and I think it turned out good. Let me know what you think!

I love this house and I love the composition of the screen shot!

I have just now started applying my photography skills to capture the world of Minecraft--hence the name "MinecraftPhotography."

Anyway, I became interested in going around dA and finding awesome pictures like this one and editing them to bring out even more lovelyness!

If it's okay with you, I would like to download and edit this screen shot and then return it to you and you can use it for whatever you please! The basic editing I'd do would be adding contrast and saturation and bluring around the edges to create artisic and compositional awesomeness. For more advanced edits, I'd blur the background and places with heavy fog (it has a nice effect, as you might see.) Another advanced thing I would do is create dynamic lighting. It's the most awesome thing ever!

I am really excited about this image! Please let me know if I can bring this image to its full potential!

In Minecraft I made a house that was actually in a mountain. It wasn't even that hard and it didn't really require that many building materials.

I'm personally not a fan of the default brick texture, but the house still looks great! I love how it's a bit rounded and not super blocky.

Pretty successful, considering. I do find the brick texture a little "busy" but obviously that would change if you switched to another texturepack and took another screenshot. Have you experimented with kaevator's superslopes mod at all? Some Minecraft purists don't think the diagonal blocks are faithful or prefer the blocky look but you could definitely smooth out those slopes with it, just a thought

I don't like to rely on a texture pack to make my builds look better so that way i know if it looks good in default then it will always look good. Just a personal preference but thanks for the tip!

Ahh, I see, I think there's something to be said for remaining faithful to the original and making sure things look good with vanilla textures, but talented members of the community have made such different and yes, superior texture packs that I feel it's a shame to not try them out once in a while. My biggest beef with vanilla Minecraft is the lack of different types of blocks for decorative purposes, so I'm personally happy that mods allow more block types to be added; even retexturing existing blocks only allows for so much variety. But more power to ya and your philosophy I think it's great Jeb has been working on corner stair blocks which transition more seamlessly in some of his latest shots, which will certainly make roofs nicer without installing mods like kaevator's superslopes.

you should of used grass block for your flower pot rather than dirt other than that very nice work... you have even given me a idea for my city/house designs

If I'm not mistaken they actually added planters in the latest snapshot, or maybe it's just a teaser image of upcoming features in 1.4, but yeah, it'll be pretty sweet to have plants or flowers in actual pots, not to mention frames with clocks or maps in 'em!
