Description 11" X 14" Oil Pastel
the photographer whose reference I used gave the title, I think it had to do with the tall weeds and sticker bushes she had to walk through just to get the shot πŸ˜€
Reference was from Sandie Bell at PaintMyPhoto

Very pretty and peaceful looking place!

I'm curious to know your method for doing the grasses - it looks like the colour's been scraped off, am I correct? What did you use to do that? Did you put down a layer of light colour first? I really like the effect.

Hello! Thank you, my friend! Yes, I rub the lighter colors into the paper with my fingers, and then after applying the darker colors on top they can be scraped out to reveal the highlights. I used a simple butter knife, but I think a palette knife would be the proper tool that most oil pastelists would use.

Thank you! I've done a few oil pastel drawings, but am just self taught so don't know any of the tricks. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge!

I’ve seen your oil pastels, they’re amazing! It’s hard to find online instruction on oil pastels, but there are a couple of good books by John Elliot and Kenneth D Leslie.Β
