EDIT: Somewhere, somehow, this drawing is linked elsewhere and is getting MASSIVE traffic. While I'm grateful, I would also like it if random visitors checked out the other Pokemon that I have up on my deviantArt at the following links, too. Gastly, Haunter, Gengar (Colored)
This is a pen/pencil combo drawing of a realistic version of Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar. I really liked doing these guys, because I really think they had the raw potential to capture the inner-brutality of Pokemon. Gastly is basically a disembodied, floating, gaseous skull. Haunter is the same thing, only less-gaseous as his transformation into Gengar (with a completely corporeal body) goes underway. Gengar is covered in continuously splitting and putrefying flesh. In all cases, they are either traditionally or homeless-guy-in-an-alley creepy.
Additionally, the intellectual property of Pokemon and its related derivations and subsidiaries is property of Nintendo and Game Freak. I'm just a fan, and I didn't come up with the idea.

I just realized that the Babbles from Zelda, look a lot like Gastly.

One of my favorite things to see is my childhood creatures being upgraded with more "realistic" looks. its great to see varations. as far as dark/ghost(or poison) goes... this is really really awesome looking. pulls of the "dark and scary" look they lacked.

Thanks! It's weird seeing the Pokemon being redone in "realistic" fashion now. I made this originally in like, 2008 or 2009. Glad to see you enjoy the variations. I, myself, wasn't a fan of the popular "bat" approach someone else did. In either case, shukran, danke, thanks.

I had a dream as a child that I would wake up from and fall back asleep only to have the same one all night long of a monster that looked just like that there Gengar, only red and in a leather jacket.
All that happened was this guy walking around a warehouse with a flashlight as if looking for something and he would shine it as a wall. That little monster (only it was about the size of Jabba the Hut in my dream) was sitting on top of some boxes and as soon as the light hit him he would smile and the guy would scream. I also remember the guy was black....hm....

if you make haunter (my favorite pokemon) to add his toung i recommend making it like a flesh progression

Creepy... Impressive! but creepy. I particularly like the Gengar, i'd say that (short of watching gengar's ever splitting flesh) as a still image, gengar is the scariest of the three.
