though if i showed you the picture you'd see a marked difference in his facial structure(around the nose). I was sort of rushing through it during the sketching faze but expressionwise it is similar.

biggest challenge was the realization of those darn strings of his shawl(a tallit i think). it's nearly not as good as the real deal(you should see the picture) but i'm satisfied with it not the less

That is incredible! You are great at drawing different shading levels.
I suck at drawing sketches and portraits. I can't get the whiteness to shine. If you wanna laugh check my Hugh Grant sketch!

checked it out and i dont find it so bad as you made out. In fact i faved it so there. It takes practice and copying good artists.
About the whiteness, i guess it depends on the contrast of the surrounding. In this case i copied a black and white picture and the white sleeves show a minimum, barely a hind of shade while the other clothware goes from pure black to light grey.
