What a beautiful shot. You can see how the city is the only thing for miles in that direction. Did you use an infared filter or something to make the trees look that way?

ooo it looks so fridgid and icy :shivers: excellent use of the slight blue-ish purple tone to really bring out the feeling of cold~ you seem to have a great eye for photography and your photos are very professional~ reminds me of a postcard.

great job!

So that would be taken on which hell proverbially freezes over, right? I can't say much about it because it is simply very good. The unusual contrast of trees lighter than the houses serves the eerie feeling well. The layout, perfect. I wouldn't know what to crop, so as much as I would suggest something. It is simply good, there is nothing to improve.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crazy1ady In reply to SuseDolAmroth [2005-11-25 11:37:21 +0000 UTC]

Actually the Title comes from the link which is how the uncyclopedia describes Bergen.

As for improvement. I know the horizon is ever so slightly off and I didn't actually like the trees in the bottom right hand corner. Maybe I am being over critical though
Thank you for your encouraging words

I can see what you mean. However on a scale from0 to 100 it would only make a 1% difference. It is really minute.
I'm not that atruistic. I like to see more of your work. So I encourage you

And there was me thinking that you were just getting into choosing your names cheesily. Anyway, I love this image, and you have a good eye for what will work well in IR, and the colours and tones in this image are stunning, the contrast really brings this image alive. I love the abstract sky here, the tangle of lighter and darker tones which compliments the spangley far distance of the landscape, but my favourite part of the image is by far the little show of town you have there, it's all so sharp and stunning, despite the shutter speed. Also, the tracks in the water left by boats look slightly surreal here, which really adds to the atmosphere overall. A final point is the excellent detail you've maintained in the buildings and the different colour otnes between land and water. A stunning image, really great.

i think its very nice, i reli like the sky and the shape the water has. The white trees are also a nice contrast to the rest of the photo. I think it would look nice if you took the same photo in the middle of a thunder storm! Dunno, anyway well done!

I don't know about a thunder storm, this was an Infrared shot with a long exposure. Infrared is always better in good weather. Thanks for the too

Thank you I love the name, the uncyclopedia rocks

Stig has tried IR on his camera, when I am over at Christmas you can borrow my filter and give it a try if you like. The canon's don't seem as sensitive as the D70 but you may have some luck.

Alternatively, just wait till it snows, the trees will kind of look like that anyway

Acasha [2005-10-28 11:19:34 +0000 UTC]

I guess the nooby question had to come sooner or later... What is IR??

I seem to love every photo it is used in, or maybe it is just you who uses it very well
