crazygardener — Washington palm trees

Description or they are called "Petticoat palms" (Washingtonia robusta). they are cultivated in the warmer temped regions around the globe. they have been naturalizing in Florida. i also seen these in Los Vegas a resent trip before going to Florida. so i know they can take below freezing temps & snow.

yup... but i'll have Trachycarpus fortunei. these guys in the pic won't be hardy enough. i think if i remember correctly can only take down to 20. & can't stay below freezing long periods of time...

yeah... U might have something there. palms trees aren't really trees. they are type of grass. & its all about the roots! is it hardy enough to grow here?
