pen and ink on bristol.this is a birthday gift for my awesome dad.
i'm considering coloring the snake, maybe one solid color. it's so busy, i dunno. what do you think?

maybe if you colored the snake black it would pop. but it pops as being white too.
try it in photo shop and see before you actually color it

at first i thought i would, but then when i scanned it i realized the snake really stood out as it was. so i think it will stay as is.

hi kitteh, thanks much! it was one of those pieces that made me feel poopy when it was done, cause i wanted it to keep going. i'm doing something similar with colored pencils. it's fun. they feel so nice on bristol.

I totally understand the feeling! Some pieces you're glad to finish, others you never want to be done with. I miss using colored pencils, they do feel really nice

Exactly! That's how a lot of stuff goes with me as well. The stuff that I just kinda felt 'eh" about are always the ones that people end up liking most. Same on twitter i write jokes and stuff there, and the tweets that I barely think about go viral while the ones I really try for maybe get one person who likes them hahaha

thank you! i thought of you when i decided to keep it black and white. i tried to vary the concentrations of light and dark so it doesn't just look flat and too busy. did you see all the places i wrote happy birthday in there?

ah! that popped in to my head and now i realize, i don't think he has any color preference . his house in st. louis is really beige (ugh) and his house in enland is mostly wood. seems like he does't care about color at all. i can't imagine!

ikr? it's freaky. i never thought about it before, but now i think it's pretty freaky!he wears beige or white shirts and really old cool jeans or black pants. he got all into fashion now, he even wears a gold watch. he has these totally awesome smooth black low boots that lace up. he looks awesome. this year he's 73! he's incredibly healthy.

Yeah my clothes don't reflect my favorite color per se. Cause I look better in blue than I do purple but I still have plenty of purple pieces. Hehehe.
His clothes are like the total opposite of my dad. He wears Hawaiian shirts, jeans and crocks. The Hawaiian shirts are nice and the crocks not so much. My dad doesn't know anything about fashion. Hehehe.

i figure at that after over 60 they feel like they don't give a shit what anybody thinks about them.
so they change and usually it's for the better, but if not that's their choice. when your parents get older, i'm not pissed off anymore. it seems silly, i want him to be happy as possible for as long as possible. things that used to bug me that he did seem so silly. that god i had one good parent! he and my stepmother have been married for 25 years, and i've sort of think of her as my mother. a few years ago, i worked my way up to tell her her i love you.

Yeah I LOVE shoes! So the whole crocks thing is bleh! I'm actually a bit of a fashion snob. Hehe. I love all of it: bags, shoes, clothes, and jewelry. Though I'm not all about labels or anything like that. I just like shopping. HEhehehe.
Its nice that you have a good relationship with your dad. I'm the opposite of you. I get along much better with my mom. My whole family dynamic isn't all that pretty. And I totally feel you on the one good parent thing! My mom is seriously awesome. We're both artists so she really understands me. Though her talents lay in knitting, bag making/sowing and bead work. She's actually made her own glass beads.
