Description

This is a sequel to the earlier sketch, "Banhammer Battle", where my Halo OC, Spartan IV Lieutenant Thomas Bailey, and the Twokinds character, Flora, a Tiger Keidran. I wanted to do a proper, coloured in version of the battle, with a more dynamic scene. So I doodled to try out the poses, and went for a diagonal camera angle. I kept to just drawing the outlines in pencil and colouring them in, for a softer, but still dynamic appearance. A moment frozen in time.

I am legitimately really proud of how this turned out. I was afraid that I might muck up Thomas' face a bit like I did in the sketch (there it was a bit...weird looking, sort of squashed), but I just love how his expression and features came out. I am so happy. As for Flora...well, she turned out far better than I ever hoped. I'm always nervous drawing other people's characters, as I am still very much an amateur, but everything about Flora-the pose, the expression, the colours-is much better than I hoped for, and something I am really happy with.

Flora comes from the web comic Twokinds written by Thomas Fischbach. She's actually one of the main cameras, and one of the comic mascots (along with the squirrel Mrs Nibbly!). As a Tiger, she's shown to know at least some decent hand-to-hand combat within the setting. So...I had her here in a very...dynamic pose. She's in a bit of a furious frenzy here. Tigers are surprisingly agile, and very strong. I tried to reflect that in Flora.

Thomas Bailey is a Spartan IV commando, a veteran ex-Marine of the Human-Covenant war. His fighting style is fairly defensive, to suit his quite massive size (in my head he's as big as Jorge or Sam) and his slower speed. (Because while he might be as big as a II, he'll never be as fast), so he has a more defensive pose to boot...but he packs quite a punch, and is an excellent strategist and tactician.

So here we are. Flora has leapt high into the air, the Twokinds Banhammer raised above her head for a crushing blow to Thomas to ban him from whatever game he was playing on, and Thomas is looking up at her, his Halo Banhammer drawn back for an intercepting swing, to perhaps hit Flora's hammer, or maybe ban her from whatever game she was playing.

I still don't know WHY they're trying to ban each other though...maybe it's a big mistake and they think the other is a cheater. I don't know. \_('-')_/

I'd also like to dedicate this picture to Thomas Fischbach and the community for helping me through some of my darkest times, and giving me the inspiration for this picture. A year ago, I was inspired to start drawing in earnest after the Halo Raine picture, and I hope I can keep going on and on, through these pictures, to make better and better pictures.
