nah, that's just an anime-style trick thing... you see it alot with some anime. I just get lazy when it comes to changing my style for other art and keep all my old habits. ^_^

FINALLY a picture of Gildor! He was actually my favorite elf in Lord of the Rings, I was sad he wasn't in the movie. Though I can pretend he was in the extended, "Look, there, in the line! I think that's him!"

Lovely interpretation. Actually, if we're to judge what he should look like in terms of hair-colour, he should strictly be blonde. Though you rightly state that the Noldor were dark-haired, there is one line of the Royal Family that had blonde hair, as their foremother was of the Vanyar (the Vanyar were golden-haired). Since Gildor says he's 'of the House of Finrod', he may have had golden hair (because Finrod is the grandson of a Noldor, AND of Indis the Vanyar, and her son Finarfin's line, who is Finrod's father, inherited this golden-hair ). Incidently, Galadriel is the sister of Finrod, and that explains her golden hair. Anyway, regardless, I've drawn Gildor with brown hair too, since I simply picture him this way. It's open to interpretation, and I happen to greatly like yours. I love the smoothness of his air, and his evidently elvish characteristics. Well done!

Okay...All the Noldor had dark hair except for the house of Finarfin (Finarphir). And Gildor is kin of the house of Finrod, who was Finarfin's son (also Galadriel's brother). So, he would have golden hair.
Telerin are dark-haired (includes Sindarin)
Vanyarin are golden-haired
I don't think the hair color of the Silvan elves is specified.

Nope nope, Gildor is from the house of Finrod, so he's a Hight-elf (Noldor). ...and most of them have dark hair.

oh, I didn't know their race had anything to do with their haircolor >_<; Galadriel is a Noldor and is blond. Then again my character is a Teleri and is a brunette. Somehow the glow of the high elves I mistook for Tolkien describing blondness. I think all the shimmering goldenness he kept describing elves with sunk in a bit too deep. ::bangs head on a wall::
