Description Another attempt to practice with charcoal.

I tried willow charcoal for the first time and loved the feel of it, although it took awhile to get the hang of it.

Willow charcoal is a charcoal made from individual sticks cut from willow trees. So you're basically drawing with what looks like a burnt twig rather than a charcoal pencil or compressed sticks or chunks.

Crazy! You can do this and you're just experimenting with the stuff! O_O I'm surprised you got the darkness you did with the willow charcoal. Everything looks a-okay... 'cept for his nose... looks just a bit off for John.

Thanks! I actually find that the mistakes I've made in graphite translate surprisingly well to other media. Or, er, well, something like that.

Should've made it clear, it's not all willow charcoal, just the soft gray parts. The hair and black parts are done with compressed charcoal.
