Yes I have amethyst!
I picked this up at a gift shop when I was six. It has nice coloration and interesting dark spotting on the points. Not sure what this spotting is (an inclusion of some kind maybe?). You can see the spotting in detail here--> cc-da-wolf.tumblr.com/post/153… Whatever the spotting is, it makes the crystals pretty unique and "freckled". I've seen other crystals with a similar thing going on with them, yet there was nothing to describe what the spots were. It has stumped my dad and I for years. Any help on IDing what the spots are would be great!

Yeah, I was about to say, those spots are iron oxide inclusions (either hematite or goethite).

And apparently it happens to these specimens often. I didn't know that about amethyst. Learn something new every day

Well those inclusions are not unique to amethysts nor are amethysts characterized by them. But do consider that the purple color that makes quartz amethyst is due to the presence of iron cations.
