Description "The day i took the oath of chivalry i realized my freedom was gone, but my honor means everything. For my lord, for my country, for myself..."

You know all of the funny bikini-armors in RPG's/MMO's~ well tho i don't mind the sexiness XD i decided to draw a real female knight with protective armor!

Every painting has to end... i am sure i could work on this an another week or two...
I'm still not satisfied :/ ~ i wonder what i'm missing... why can't i set the picture in my mind to my hand.

Edit: well i did make a background after all~

This is amazing!
However, this can become a lot more - amazing - if you enhance the highlights and shadows, as Chimaera94 stated below. Furthermore, when shading, you could try to leave bold lines instead of blurring the shade, so it stands out a lot more.
I hope that helps.

Great painting so far but you aren't done yet.
Try to use some deeper shadows - it has so much potential.
Also: the hair and the armor could use some bright highlights.

Since it's digital art you can try some experiments with it, don't be afraid of using "extreme" shadows
... As long as you want to make it look more realistic

You're using Photoshop, aren't you?
Try the burn and dodge tool (dunno if this is the correct term in English)
These tools are easy ways to add shading to a painting.
Currently I'm trying to draw a piece just with these two and the blur tool.

thank you very much for the comment
your right I'm a bit afraid, still learning how to use my digital-tools

i might try to set some more highlights and shadows!
tho if i use the dodge and burn tool it always looks a bit 'dirty'/'moody' in the end~
do i use it wrong, or does it simply have this effect?
would love to see ur upcoming picture with this tools!

You're very welcome

It's all a matter of the brushes you use. I mostly use a soft brush (to cover huge surfaces with shadow/light) but when I paint details I use a rather hard brush consisting of many spots that makes the skin appear to have pores. (the brush depends on the material I want to paint)
Another technique to add shading to the painting is working with different tones and the blur tool but you seem to understand this technique.

You always have to keep in mind: making something brighter means you pull it out of the canvas - to darken it is to push it in. You have to see your painting as a sculpture: 3-dimensional. the further a point is pushed in the darker it gets and the other way around. But still it has to look naturaly so use references if you aren't sure.
(Oh and of course you should respect the natural shadow and artificial and natural light sources ^^)

Ye brushes i believe to understand the system - took me a while tho ^^
i'm still collecting and creating my own set~

i think i miss some color-view, usually on paper i mainly used black and white
so shading with color is still a bit new but i want to learn it regardless how long it takes ^^
maybe some oil-painting might help me, i thought of trying it

your comments made me very motivated
thank you a lot
