Tired of taking orders and living paycheck to paycheck, US Army private Samuel Barlow volunteered to be fitted with a bionic enhancement prototype code-named F.I.S.T. (Fully Integrated Strength Technology). Thought the project was a success, Barlow was less than thrilled at the prospect of spending the rest of his life with oversized robotic hands. Embittered, he went AWOL and began a career as criminal muscle for hire. He is a member of the team of ex-soldiers turned superpowered mercenaries the Alliance of Violence .
